‘He’s a Good Man, He Doesn’t Hit Me’ is a project which employs firearms in the process of creating performance and sculptural work. The project takes its name from a throwaway remark my Nana made. This statement put in perspective just how much violence can shape women’s views on relationships, warping tolerances and moving the goalposts for good and bad. I struggled to contend with the idea of defining a good partner simply as one who isn’t violent. As of last year, I understood. This zine displays the references and workings of this project.
