Adam Doyle is a visual artist from The Republic of Ireland operating under the moniker Spicebag. He uses political satire and social commentary to interrogate issues within Irish society.

Adam is also a published journalist with bylines in The Irish Times, VICE News and The New Arab as well as a documentary filmmaker with his film “The Death of Terence Wheelock" featured in multiple film festivals.

Adam received national acclaim in Ireland for his controversial piece “The Eviction” and the subsequent debate on The Tonight Show. The piece is now preserved as a large mural in Dublin.

In traditional still lifes, you’d have bowls of fruit, flowers, and other bits and pieces carefully arranged to tell a story—maybe about wealth, time passing, or life's fragility. For the artists of the Templemore school, it’s piles of cash, drugs, or weapons, laid out just as deliberately. There’s no soft lighting or chiaroscuro; it’s all sharp, stark, and straight to the point. But in both cases, there’s a strange power in how the objects are put on display—one meant to remind us of life’s fleeting beauty, the latter to remind us of the worst possible outcome of being a boldy. The Gardaí’s socials parade piles of contraband from the gaffs, gardens, and glove boxes of the unfortunate criminal under the harsh lighting of the cop-shop. Both forms share a tension between the aestheticized presentation and the deeper implications of the objects on display: one celebrates beauty and transience, while the other proudly makes public unusual assortments of paro paraphernalia and clandestine cash.
